Wear What’s In Your Closet: A Series

I recently saw an influencer post a reel about shopping her closet to come up with some cute looks and loved the idea. I’m on a saving spree right now- things like brewing your own coffee, ordering less takeout, and shopping your closet are great ways to save money & get creative. I love looking in my pantry to see what I can make with the ingredients I have on hand and applying this to your closet feels equally fun.

So I snapped this picture in a rush while I was getting ready for an annual favorite things party with my best girlfriends. The pic is blurry, there’s smudges on the mirror and the bedroom situation ain’t looking the best but you know what? In 2025, I’m doing the things I want to do even though they’re not perfect (and probably never will be). I’m not going to wait until I have the flawless picture or the room is immaculate because then this post will be sitting in my drafts and will never reach my 2 blog readers. So this year, (and this Valentine’s Day!), in addition to saving money, I’m encouraging you to stop waiting until things are perfect to do the things you want to do or accomplish those goals you’ve always dreamed of. Life is short but sweet for certain. XOXO

Going to link what I can from this shop my closet look:

Mom Uniform Realized

I’ve talked a bit about outfits on here but realized I rarely post actual photos of myself in them so here ya go. My husband took this pic and I gave him explicit instructions on not including the toys nor kitchen but as the Rolling Stones say, “you can’t always get what you want”. I did get what I needed though which is a wannabe fashion blogger photo of myself after which my sister told me I looked like Michael Jackson. So those fashion blogger dreams are going down the drain. And fast. That’s all for now…

Mom Uniform

Neutrals? For fall? Groundbreaking. Not trying to reinvent the wheel here but I have been wanting to post about my go-to outfits I’ve been living in as of late. Did anyone ask for this post? Nope. Does anyone compliment me on my style while I’m out in the wild (read: Target/Homegoods/school drop-off)? Hard no. Yet here I am, at your service to help with all of your fashion needs. But really, its nice to have an adult uniform, especially when most mornings are loud & chaotic and you’re too busy with your little humans to think about what to wear. I’ve talked about my favorite jeans before and I love pairing them with a Madewell tucked-in tee. Now that its finally getting a little chilly here in California, I’ve been eyeing this long-sleeved one. I’ve been a big fan of Madewell shirts for quite some time- they’re great quality, lots of colors to choose from, and I always seem to reach for them when I want something cute and basic. You can pull the look together with some mules which I think are such a good option when you’re running out the door and ain’t got time for luxuries like putting on socks & tying shoes. But if you do have time for that? These New Balance kicks scream cute n’ sporty mom with a little time to spare, ya know? Pull the look together with this duster if you want to keep it caszh or throw on the faux leather jacket if you plan on speaking to the manager for a discount and need to look the part. Until next time…

Mom Shorts

Mom Shorts

I believe the correct term to use here is “paper-bag shorts” but I’ve officially dubbed these things mom shorts. Just tuck in those loose odds & ends, tie that puppy up and fuhgettaboutit. I often used to wear denim shorts pre-baby but now I find myself doing the fingertip rule and wondering if I should just toss those shorts that don’t pass the test because I’m not a regular mom nor a cool mom, just a mom who’s worried about her extra junk falling out. Ya know? Anyway these shorts just work cause they’re high-waisted yet appropriate in length and despite those two features, they don’t feel frumpy. I call that a win!

Beachy Getaway

Beachy-Maternity

Last weekend we headed down to Pismo Beach to celebrate/cherish our dwindling days of complete independence. Otherwise known as a babymoon! Our friends with kids have highly recommended we take a vacation before baby arrives in October and I gladly obliged. It was a weekend full of great food, slow walks around town, poolside mocktails, and a bit of shopping. My current style is all things comfort so I’ve rounded up a few items that are currently in rotation. I’m loving anything that is roomy and easy to slip into- like slides, stretchy dresses, and purses that allow you to be hands-free:

Valentine’s Day

In honor of tomorrow being Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d post a few of my favorite things. Please forward this post to my husband to give him some clues as to the perfect gift(s) to get me. For real though, we like to keep it low-key on v-day- I love staying at home and cooking a gourmet meal. Last year, we cooked Chrissy Teigen’s spicy clams & pasta recipe which was incredible. I also just love the process of picking out a cute card and writing a thoughtful message. Some of my favorite gifts have been cards….I guess I’m just old school like that. Whatever you do and whoever you’re with, I hope you have a day full of love! V-Day-Collage
